Notice of Highway Closure and Disposition
Wednesday, September 15, 2010
The District of West Vancouver (the “District”) gives notice of its intention to close to traffic certain unimproved road allowance between 2200 block of Marine Drive and the 2200 block of Fulton Avenue, shown outlined in bold on “Sketch A” and labelled as “CLOSED LANE” (referred to in this notice as the “Unimproved Lane”), and remove its dedication as a highway. The Unimproved Road has an area of 510.0 square meters, more or less.
The bylaw closing the Unimproved Lane and removing its dedication will be considered by the Council at its regular meeting at the Municipal Hall, 750 – 17th Street, West Vancouver, on October 4th, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Persons who consider they are affected by the bylaw will be provided an opportunity to make representations to Council at the meeting or by delivering a written submission prior to the meeting.
The proposed closure of the Unimproved Lane will facilitate the reconfiguration of John Richardson Park and the creation of a District-owned development site. The planned reconfiguration of John Richardson Park is generally as shown on “Sketch B”. This reconfiguration will require the approval of the electors of the District by way of an alternative approval process. The District intends to close and raise title to the Unimproved Lane (which has no practical use as road) pending the outcome of the alternative approval process.
All inquires regarding the foregoing road may be directed to Mr. Gordon Reid, Land Agent, District of West Vancouver, 750 – 17th Street West Vancouver, B.C. V7V 3T3, telephone: (604) 925 7067, fax: (604) 925 6083.
Copies of the proposed bylaw, and other related documents may be inspected from September 14, 2010 to October 4, 2010 at the Municipal Hall on regular business days (Monday to Friday except for statutory holidays) between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
For convenience only, some of the documents may also be available for viewing on the West Vancouver Municipal Website or in the Reference Department of the West Vancouver Memorial Library at 1950 Marine Drive, West Vancouver BC (telephone: 604-925-7400 for current information on Library hours of operation). Submissions to Council will be included in the public information package for Council’s consideration.
