1300 Block Marine Drive Purchase and Sale Agreement

The District of West Vancouver has received a development permit application from Grosvenor Capital Corporation for redevelopment of the 1300 Block of Marine Drive in Ambleside Village. Council approved the sale of the District-owned lands on the 1300 Block to Grosvenor in March 2012 in order to revitalize this key block, which is the entrance to Ambleside, and to further the goals of the District’s Ambleside Village Centre Strategy, which seeks to:

  • Maximize the 1300 Block’s potential  
  • Increase housing options in Ambleside Village
  • Create opportunities for vibrant local business
  • Improve connections between Marine Drive and the waterfront
  • Create better pedestrian access and cycling routes
  • Promote new green building standards

A report to Council on the application is anticipated before year-end, at which time Council may direct the commencement of a public consultation process on the project, request additional technical review, or reject the application. 
 
Next Steps:

  • The District's Planning Department will review the development permit application to ensure all the encessary information has been provided
  • A Report to Council on the application is anticipated before the end of 2012
  • In considering the applicaiton, Council may direct the commencement of a public consultation process, request additional technical review, or reject the application
  • If Council approves of the development application, the Police Station will have four and a half years from rezoning to relocate off the 1300 Block.
