Media Release - West Vancouver Celebrates Its Centennial Community-Wide

Monday, May 07, 2012

West Vancouver, B.C.: West Vancouver is turning 100 and we are celebrating and inviting everyone to come and celebrate with us on Saturday, June 2. The traditional Community Day is being transformed into a community-wide celebration which begins in Horseshoe Bay with a children’s fishing derby, street party and local performers, and ends in Ambleside with performances by: Colin James, ODDS with Shaun Verrault, Tennessee Three and Barney Bentall and The Legendary Hearts.

Mayor Michael Smith says, “West Vancouver is all about community and the Centennial Celebration on June 2 is one not to be missed. It’s time to celebrate what we’ve achieved together and enjoy a great day with family, friends and neighbours.”

Legendary performer, Colin James, says: “I think West Vancouver has to be one of the most scenic places to live in the world. It continues to grow and change with the times, but one thing that will never change is that smokin' view and that amazing waterfront. I can't wait to celebrate 100 years with West Van. See you June 2!"

There are six events sites with activities taking place throughout the day. Sites include:

  • Horseshoe Bay
  • Hollyburn Elementary School
  • Dundarave
  • Argyle Avenue
  • Ferry Building Landing
  • Ambleside
