Media Release - District of West Vancouver co-winner of “Most Fiscally Responsible” award

Thursday, October 18, 2012

Thursday, October, 18, 2012, West Vancouver, BC – The District of West Vancouver is a co-winner of the award for the “Most Fiscally Responsible” municipality in Metro Vancouver for 2012, according to the Commercial Real Estate Development Association (NAIOP) Vancouver Chapter. Today, NAIOP presented the District with the award for keeping cost increases in line with, or below, the average rate of inflation for the region.

“This award recognizes the hard work of Council and staff to contain and control costs in the municipality,” says District of West Mayor Michael Smith. “We are striving to curb the trend of rising inflation outpacing income and we are very pleased that our hard work has not gone unnoticed.”

In winning this award, the District is being recognized for tabling a zero per cent property tax increase in 2012 and for limiting cost increases to a rate that is below the average rate of inflation since the survey’s inception in the year 2000.
