West Vancouver Launches New Website

West Vancouver, BC: The District of West Vancouver is very excited to launch a new website to better meet the needs of our community. The website’s architecture has been reorganized, a new design has been created, and we have improved the process for staff to update content with a new Content Management System (CMS).
New features of the website include: site organization based upon a user “portal” approach where the users identify themselves as a Resident, Business, Visitor, or needing information on Your Government; a fresh, colourful design that showcases photographs of West Vancouver; a home page that features Community News, Upcoming Events, and Initiatives & Projects; subscription-based e-mail alerts for content such as Council Meeting Agendas and Career Opportunities; improved search capabilities; online Service Request and Contact Us forms; and integration with e-services such as MyDistrict.
Another feature is a more robust Community Calendar, accessed via the footer and under Upcoming Events – which we invite the public to contribute towards. Residents can provide us with information about their community, non-profit, or fundraising event by sending an e-mail to info@westvancouver.ca. The website footer also features the Careers section which we hope will serve as a valuable recruitment resource.
The Communications Department oversees the District’s website, while working closely with the ITS Department and the “Web Developer” group comprised of 25 staff who are responsible for maintaining content. “This group of staff are a key component of the website’s success as a communications tool” says Communications Manager, Patricia Leslie.
“The new website will serve as a more effective communications tool for residents. Staff have worked very hard on this project and we are very proud of the final product,” says CAO Grant McRadu.
