Capital Program - Engineering & Transportation

Each year the District of West Vancouver’s Engineering & Transportation Division undertakes an extensive capital program. This work covers the rehabilitation and renewal of infrastructure including: roads and transportationfleetwatersanitary sewer and drainage. It also includes the construction of new infrastructure such as the North Shore Spirit Trail Greenway.

The value of the Engineering Division’s current capital program exceeds $10 million dollars per year. Funding for these projects is drawn from a mixture of reserves, debt, general taxation, utility rates,  developer contributions and federal/provincial infrastructure grant funding.

In order to ensure optimal management of capital funds, the District continues to implement its long-term Infrastructure Management Plan. The District is determining what we own. Using best practices in asset management, staff evaluates the worth and condition of West Vancouver's infrastructure, when it will require replacement and, ultimately, appropriate levels of funding over time.
