Building Permits
The Permits and Inspections Department issues building, plumbing, hot water heating, sprinkler, electrical and sign permits and performs related inspections. Gas Inspections are conducted by the Provincial Government, contact 604 660-6222.
With some exceptions, building permits are required for all construction activity involving any structure over 4 feet in height, in-ground pools, and signs. This would include: buildings, retaining walls, pools, antennaes.
Building permits are not required for: re-roofing, cladding or window replacement, mill work, fences, landscaping.
Note: Anyone who conducts or carries on a business within West Vancouver is required to obtain a business licence. This includes tradesmen coming into the community to perform work such as builders, plumbers, electricians and landscape gardeners.
