West Vancouver Community Discussion Forums: Community Heritage Register

   In November 2007, Council formally established the West Vancouver Community Heritage Register, and listed Hollyburn Lodge as the first historic place to be recognized for its heritage value.
In June 2008, the Heritage Working Group presented to Council a list of 171 further nominations to the Community Heritage Register - including 156 resources drawn from existing inventories, and a further 15 nominations from the public.  Council added 33 resources to the Register at that time, and requested that staff undertake further consulation with owners of other nominated properties.

In October 2008, Council added four more resources to the Register - for a total of 38 to date.  All of the remaining nominated resources remain eligible for addition to the Register at a later date, and will be considered if supported by the property owner(s).  The Register will be updated on a regular basis, including consideration of further public nominations, and preparation of additional Statements of Significance.
