West Vancouver Community Discussion Forums: Nominations to the Community Heritage Register

   Although current work on West Vancouver's Community Heritage Register is now complete, the Register will be updated on a regular basis.  As part of this process, we will continue to encourage nominations from the public.  Eligibility criteria are included in a reporty by Commonwealth Historic Resource Management Ltd. (our heritage consultant).  This document can be viewed at the following link:

Please refer to the Thematic Framework and Selection Criteria for more information.  Nominations should include a supporting rationale - i.e., an explanation of why the resource is being nominated, and how it meets the selection criteria.  Ideally, this would be in the form of a draft Statement of Significance (or "S.O.S."), which includes: a description of the historic place, a statement of heritage value, and a list of character-defining elements.

We anticipate holding future workshops on Understanding Heritage Values and Writing Statements of Significance, although none are planned at this time.  If you would be interested in participating, please email your contact information to communitydialogue@westvancouver.ca and we will send you further information when available.
