It has been a long time since this forum has been promoted by the Municipality or used by the community. Why is one question and why not is another. May I suggest that AmblesideNOW would be an excellent opportunity to engage residents in the discussion?
I am generally supportive of the concept , though have several questions right now around the procedures as well as the plans.
Accordingly, please take this as a request, better still a plea, that community input be encouraged through this forum and under a new topic heading initiated by the Municipality.
Thanks.

It is usual in most business ventures to ask questions such as: "what is the need?" and "what alternatives could there be?'. I am not satisfied that such questions have been properly addressed. How can I get links to relavent reports?
Take the police station and firehall as examples. At its current location, a case could be made that ithe police station is ideally situated and its frontal facade is ideal. To merely state that both buildings are not adequately earthquake-proofed ignores the simple question of what would it take to get them upgraded in a manner that is occuring at schools, for example. Some are advocating a re-organization of police forces in which case a brand new station may become partly redundant.
As for the proposed new museum/arts centre a strong case can be made that it is needed (though not to promote contemporary artists and certainly not to display photos with captions like "woman with dog circa 1913"). But North Vancouver, which has way more history is in the same situation. To me a single North Shore entity would make much more common sense and would have the enhanced prospect of attracting visitors from elsewhere. Has there been any exploration of this idea?

Please, someone, respond. I'll try with one very basic question: Where can I find even the very rough costs to bring the police station and fire hall up to contemporary standards?
