On June 27, 2022, Council approved Development Permit 21-189 and Development Permit 21-190 to allow the redevelopment of 2195 Gordon Avenue (just north of the West Vancouver Ice Arena).

In conjunction with Kiwanis Housing Society and Darwin Properties, the site is planned to be redeveloped with a total of three apartment buildings with a total of 214 units. Both developments will share a parkade entrance accessed from 22nd Street.

The entire site will remain under District of West Vancouver ownership and each parcel will be redeveloped through a land lease. Timing of construction is not yet determined.

The District has received a proposal for the redevelopment of 2195 Gordon Avenue (just north of the West Vancouver Ice Arena).

District of West Vancouver Council approved a rezoning and associated Official Community Plan amendment for the District-owned site at 2195 Gordon Avenue on July 14, 2020, which facilitated the proposal at hand. See here.

In conjunction with Kiwanis Housing Society and Darwin Properties, the site is planned to be redeveloped with a total of three apartment buildings with a total of 214 units. Parcel A includes two six-storey ‘non-market’ rental buildings and Parcel B includes an 8-storey strata condominium building (on the southern portion of the site).

Parcel A is proposed to include 156 non-market rental units and an adult day centre with 147 parking stalls. Parcel B is proposed to include 58 strata units with 116 parking stalls. All parking will be provided within an underground parkade accessed from 22nd Street.

The development proposal was reviewed and supported by the District of West Vancouver Design Review Committee (DRC) on Thursday, February 10, 2022. The proposal was also reviewed by the North Shore Advisory Committee on Disability Issues (ACDI) on Thursday, February 17, 2022 (Parcel A) and March 10, 2022 (Parcel B).

On May 30, 2022, Council set the date for consideration of proposed Development Permit 21-189 and proposed Development Permit 21-190 for June 27, 2022. As planned, Council will consider approval of both development permits and members of the public may address Council directly with respect to the development permits on June 27, 2022.
