Date/time: Thursday, June 23 at 4 p.m.
Location: Millennium Park (15th Street & Argyle Avenue)
About the project
To honour and recognize National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21, West Vancouver's Cultural Services department, in partnership with the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation), hosted a call for Sḵwx̱wú7mesh artists to design a streetlight banner. Five artists submitted their work for consideration. The jury consisted of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw members and staff, and a representative of West Vancouver's Public Art Advisory Committee, who reviewed and selected the design.
The chosen streetlight banner design by Sinámkin (Jody Broomfield) is titled Wa ayás kwis es i chap tl'i? (With peace, we welcome you all).
