Here is a quick snapshot of the March 29, 2022, Public Hearing and Special Council meeting. For details, please watch the video or view the minutes once they are posted.

Public hearings were held at 6 p.m., and the Special Council meeting started immediately after the public hearings were closed.

PUBLIC HEARINGS

Zoning Bylaw Amendments to Support the Local Economy

This public hearing is being held to consider a suite of actions designed to strengthen the local economy across several sectors: the changes are proposed through bylaw amendments. Council read the proposed zoning bylaw amendments for the first time at the February 14 Council meeting.

Foreshore Development Permit Area

This public hearing is being held to consider creating a Development Permit Area for foreshore properties that would provide information about developing in a floodplain and relieve the property owner of applying for rezoning to meet provincial requirements. Council read the proposed Official Community Plan bylaw amendments for the first time at the February 14 Council meeting.

Council received input from the public and closed the public hearings.

SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING

Zoning Bylaw Amendments to Support the Local Economy

The proposed bylaw amendments received first, second, and third readings at the February 14 Council meeting. Council held a public hearing on March 29, 2022 (see above).

Council read the Zoning Bylaw No. 4662, 2010, Amendment Bylaw No. 5175, 2022 a second and third time. Adoption will take place at a later date.

Foreshore Development Permit Area

The proposed bylaw amendment received its first reading at the February 14 Council meeting. Council held a public hearing on March 29, 2022 (see above).  

Council read Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 4985, 2018, Amendment Bylaw No. 5128, 2022 a second and third time. Adoption will take place at a later date.

The next regular Council meeting will take place on April 11, 2022.
