Snow clearing updates

snow plow road

Update: Friday, February 7

There is currently no snowfall warning from Environment Canada, however, temperatures remain cold and streets and sidewalks may be slippery from ice or previous snowfall.

Crews are continuing to clear Priority 3 routes: local roads, cul-de-sacs, footpaths, and footbridges.

Please do not call dispatch or the front desk with requests for road clearing. We need to keep phone lines open for urgent issues.

Please park your vehicle off-street to allow space for ploughs to clear streets safely and effectively. Please be patient and do not flag down snow plough drivers.

Facilities are open

All other recreation facilities are open today.

Snow removal update

Power failures and trees on power lines

If you lose power, check the BC Hydro website for a list of reported power outages. To report an outage, contact BC Hydro at 1-888-769-3766. If you see a downed power line, stay back at least 10 metres (about the length of a bus) and call 9-1-1.

Transit delays

What to do after it snows

  • Keep the sidewalk in front of your property clear of ice and snow. Property owners must clear the sidewalks around their homes or businesses of snow and ice within 24 hours. Please do not shovel snow onto the roadway. See the Traffic and Parking Bylaw for details.
  • Check in on neighbours and family members who may require assistance.
  • Clear snow from fire hydrants around your home or business to help our firefighters during an emergency.
  • Park your car off the street. This will make it easier for snowploughs and salt trucks to safely clear the street.
  • Was your garbage or Green Can not picked up? Crews may have difficulty reaching all areas as a result of hazardous conditions.
