Update regarding adult recreation programs at District community centres

Following the update on March 29 from the Provincial Health Officer, the District is suspending a number of additional adult recreation programs at community recreation facilities. A number of other programs and services remain open, while others continue to remain suspended.

Programs that are suspended as of midnight on March 29:

  • aquatic group rehab classes (reopening on April 12)
  • dryland group rehab classes
  • low-intensity group indoor fitness and yoga classes

Other programs that remain suspended:

  • masters swimming programs
  • high-intensity group indoor fitness and yoga classes
  • adult group hockey lessons
  • adult hockey rentals
  • adult volleyball and basketball activities
  • adult and seniors' art
  • adult and seniors' painting
  • adult and seniors' pottery
  • adult and seniors' music
  • seniors' caregiver support
  • seniors' creative writing
  • seniors' Keeping Connected programs
  • seniors' language classes

Programs that remain open with modifications to meet current Provincial Health Orders:

  • low-intensity aquafit
  • public swim and lane swimming
  • private swimming lessons
  • children’s group swimming lessons
  • minor sport swimming and diving
  • weight room
  • personal training
  • outdoor fitness classes
  • outdoor activities – skiing, cycling, walking, hiking
  • public skating and stick & puck
  • private skating lessons
  • children’s group skating lessons
  • private hockey lessons
  • children’s group hockey lessons
  • minor sports hockey and ringette
  • childminding programs
  • children’s dance programs
  • children’s music lessons
  • children’s martial arts programs
  • children’s gymnastics
  • children’s basketball, Sportball, and tennis lessons
  • adult individual sports activities, including badminton, billiards, pickleball, and table tennis
  • Youth Hub at Park Royal, Bay Scene at Gleneagles Community Centre, and Youth Lounge at West Vancouver Community Centre activities

District staff will notify program registrants impacted by the changes, and refunds will be processed automatically for any cancelled classes.
