Wildfire emergency exercises at Cypress Falls Park

Apr 25, 2019

The District of West Vancouver, North Shore Emergency Management and partner agencies will conduct wildfire response exercises in Cypress Falls Park on Thursday, May 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Residents near the park may notice emergency response vehicle and helicopter activity. There is no cause for alarm. Please avoid Cypress Falls Park during the exercise hours.

The exercises will test response times and inter-agency coordination during a wildfire emergency. As summers become dryer and hotter, the North Shore is becoming increasingly at risk of wildfire. This event is part of a three-part functional emergency exercise taking place within one week that will provide a simulation of activities that would occur in response to a major interface fire.

On Tuesday, April 30, crews will go door-to-door advising adjacent residents of the upcoming exercises and provide emergency preparedness information.
