Ben is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist who is currently finishing his Bachelors of Music at Capilano University’s jazz program. Ben has over 15 years of experience performing and teaching in a variety of settings and enjoys sharing his passion for music with anyone who wants to learn. Ben teaches across a variety of genres including Jazz, Folk, Rock, Classical, and Pop. His lessons are customized for the student's individual goals and focuses on Technique, Theory, and Ear training, and of course having fun.

Denise Killick has a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from UBC, and played professionally for many years doing operas, musicals, weddings, symphonies, and with various groups. She is a member of the Registered Music Teachers Association (BC), where she recently earned her 25 year pin. She has taught all types of music in both the private and public-school systems and has been teaching violin and piano privately for many years, working with students from age 4 to 75 years old. Denise believes that music is an enriching experience no matter your age!

Elliott’s goal is to spark creative expression in his clients’ lives and to arm them with the necessary tools and techniques to do so. He teaches under the premise that all people are inherently creative, and that it is a matter of coming back to our roots as innate Artists—be it writing, music, visual arts, or architecture—humankind just can’t get enough of creating.

It is Elliott’s philosophy that we all have the potential to become musicians, but it takes guided hard work, and the desire to learn. Elliott offers tailor-made lesson plans to help you meet your creative and technical goals. Every person is unique, and therefore has unique, and specific needs, and goals, when it comes to learning music.

Elliott specializes in instructing classical guitar, acoustic styles, and electric guitar, working in all genres including, but not limited to: Jazz, Folk, Country, Metal, Progressive Music, Classical, Soul/Funk, Rock, Blues, Reggae/Ska, Punk, Math-Rock, Post-Rock and Pop.

Elliott’s lessons are centred around building technique, creativity, and showing where the two intersect. Having a solid base in music theory can transform any player, and facilitate better understanding of the instrument and inspire more creativity. Learning interesting songs that a student finds engaging is a great way to apply technique, and learn from what has been done before. Elliott also focuses on improvisation, and composition.

Once students begin to grasp the basics of the guitar, or any other instrument, it is a true joy to create original music, but it can be challenging to know where to begin. Having a coach to help with composing can help students break through the barriers to free creative expression.

Fariba has 15 years of experience in instructing Violin, Piano, Kamanche, Recorder, and Orff approaches to children aged 3 to 15. She also welcomes adult learners.

She is a professional Kamanche and Violin performer. In her engaging and creative instruction approach, Fariba creates a nurturing environment for students to thrive. She tailors her teaching to individual needs, fostering both skill development and a love for music, allowing students to get in touch with their natural music instinct and enjoy the endless freedom, innovation, and creativity through music.

Gergana Velinova is a vocalist, music educator, performer, songwriter and recording artist who is experienced in the styles of Jazz, Classical, Blues, Gospel, Pop and R&B vocal styles. Gergana holds a Master's Degree in Jazz and Classical Voice Performance from the Longy School of Music in Boston and BA Studies in Voice from the Musician's Institute in Hollywood, CA. 

She has released six original CDs and has shared the stage with Juno and Grammy winning musicians.

Jane has 60 years of experience performing and teaching. Jane has performed with Burnaby Ladies Pipe Band, Salmon Arm Pipe Band, Fort St. John Pipe Band, and is presently a member of JPFell Pipe Band (North Vancouver) and the Gibsons Pipe Band on the Sunshine Coast.

Ken studied at Humber College, Toronto. He has also studied in New York with Bill Evans, and Eddie Daniels, in Los Angles with jazz legend Warne Marsh, as well as with one of Duke Ellington’s writers and arrangers, Ron Collier in Toronto. He has performed with Valdi, Rosemary Clooney, New York saxophonist, Mike Adkins, as well as with his own groups, both in North America and Japan. Ken has 30 years of professional experience in both performing – jazz, popular, classical, and teaching – beginners to advanced / children and adults. He is one of the lower mainland’s leading woodwind instructors and offers lessons in clarinet, saxophone and flute. Whether beginning or advanced, his students gain an intimate knowledge of their instrument, good productive practicing skills, and, as a result of their hard work, a continuing passion and love for music.

Marcia Meyer is a pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. Students working with her have the opportunity to prepare for RCM Exams, to learn Jazz, Pop, and Broadway Favourites, learn all levels of theory, and to be introduced to Improvisation.

Marcia's lessons emphasize having fun while developing good technique—a key ingredient for superior tone production. As for musical improvisation, she maintains this is akin to conversation: If you enjoy conversing with others and are ready to learn the basics of playing the piano, you're on your way to being able to improvise.

Max H. is a drummer, pianist, composer and music educator conversant in Jazz, Latin, Classical, and Pop/Contemporary styles. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from Capilano University, is an active professional performer, and has shared the stage with some of the Canada's finest jazz musicians, such as John Gross, Joe Poole, Sharon Minemoto, Hugh Fraser, Brad Turner. Max has taught music for over a decade and aims to nourish and develop the students inner creativity, while providing a well rounded foundation in theory and technique.

Bita has been teaching Daf and Tonbak since becoming an instructor at the Nava Institute in Iran almost 10 years ago. Bita is dedicated to offering a diverse repertoire, teaching correct hand and finger techniques, and creating engaging and age-appropriate lesson plans for students of all skills levels. Bita also holds a BC Orff Introduction Certificate. 

Peyman is an experienced professional santoor player and an instructor, who was mentored by a santoor master, Faramarz Payvar, in Iran during the '80s and '90s. His expertise in teaching is suitable for creating lessons plans for all ages and skill levels, from learning how to play the instrument to preparing students for concert performances.

Born in a musically trained family, Saba is a professional vocalist, a pianist, and a performer who has been on the stage at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival. With almost 10 years of experience in teaching music to children and adults, Saba aims to cater her lessons to the individual needs of each student. She incorporates music theory and performance techniques in her lessons to provide a well-rounded musical learning experience and uses Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) books for upper beginner piano students. She has a background in jazz, classical, and traditional Iranian music.
