  Music Studio Rentals

  Do you need a space to practice your music? Our studio is available for 60 to 90 minute rentals ($20) and a discount is available for frequent rentals. Rentals are for personal use only, no instruction is permitted. Please email Minori or call 604-921-3440 to book.

  Instrument Rentals

  With the exception of piano and drum set lessons, students are required to bring their own instruments to all private, semi-private, and group lessons. Instrument rentals are available at Vancouver Music Gallery or Long and McQuade*. 
  *Mention that you take lessons at the West Vancouver Community Centre.

  Having completed his doctorate degree in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California, Ardeshir is a trained woodwind performer, music producer, and piano instructor. He also teaches and coaches young musicians at the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra (VSO).

• Ben K.

  Ben is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist who is currently finishing his Bachelors of Music at Capilano University’s jazz program. Ben has over 15 years of experience performing and teaching in a variety of settings and enjoys sharing his passion for music with anyone who wants to learn. 

  Ben teaches across a variety of genres including jazz, folk, rock, classical, and pop. His lessons are customized for the student's individual goals and focuses on technique, theory, ear training, and having fun.

• Denise K.

  Denise Killick has a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of Education from the University of British Columbia, and played professionally for many years doing operas, musicals, weddings, symphonies, and with various groups. 
  
  She is a member of the Registered Music Teachers Association (BC), where she earned her 25 year pin. She has taught all types of music in both the private and public-school systems and has been teaching violin and piano privately for many years, working with students from age 4 to 75 years old. Denise believes that music is an enriching experience no matter your age!

  Elliott’s goal is to spark creative expression in his clients’ lives and to arm them with the necessary tools and techniques to do so. He teaches under the premise that all people are inherently creative, and that it is a matter of coming back to our roots as innate artists—be it writing, music, visual arts, or architecture—we just can’t get enough of creating.

  Elliott’s philosophy is that we all have the potential to become musicians, but it takes guided hard work, and the desire to learn. Elliott offers tailored lesson plans to help you meet your creative and technical goals. Every person is unique, and has specific needs and goals when it comes to learning music.

  Elliott specializes in instructing classical, acoustic, and electric guitar, working in all genres including, jazz, folk, country, metal, progressive music, classical, soul/funk, rock, blues, reggae/ska, punk, math-rock, post-pock, and pop.

  Elliott’s lessons are centred around building technique, creativity, and showing where the two intersect. Having a solid base in music theory can transform any player, facilitate an understanding of the instrument, and inspire creativity. Learning interesting songs that a student finds engaging is a great way to apply technique, and learn from what has been done before. Elliott also focuses on improvisation and composition.

  Once students begin to grasp the basics of the guitar, or any other instrument, it is a true joy to create original music, but it can be challenging to know where to begin. Having a coach to help with composing can help students break through the barriers to free creative expression.

• Dr. Hey Woun H.

  Dr. Hey Woun is an active performing musician and a Registered Music Teacher who completed her PhD in Education and M.A. and B.A. in Music Education at the University of Potsdam in Germany. She has a Teaching Certificate for elementary school in Germany and holds a B.A. in Music from South Korea. 

  Hey Woun has been teaching piano, cello, and music theory for over a decade and hopes to instill her passion for music and education in all her students. Hey Woun has been a member of BC Registered Music Teachers' Association (RMTA) since 2011. 
   

• Jack C.

  Jack is an experienced pianist, vocalist, violinist, saxophonist, music producer, performer, and sound engineer. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music, and an Associate Diploma from the Royal Conservatory of Music. 

  Jack has been teaching music for over 13 years in both Vancouver and Los Angeles. His goal has always been to elevate the students’ interest in music while adhering to a fully structured lesson plan. With this in mind, if a student is interested in playing a particular song, Jack can easily write out sheet music for that song, catered to the student’s level. 

  He consistently strives to make lessons enjoyable, fostering a deeper love for music and a lasting motivation to learn and explore music throughout their lives.

  Katie is an early childhood music education specialist, creating a fun and engaging movement and music class for children under 5 years old with their parents, caregivers, and/or grandparents. Katie loves to include her own original songs in the class.

  Marcia Meyer is a pianist, composer, arranger, and educator. Students working with her have the opportunity to prepare for RCM Exams, learn jazz, pop, and Broadway favourites, discover all levels of theory, and be introduced to improvisation.

  Marcia's lessons emphasize having fun while building strong technique—a key ingredient for superior tone production. As for musical improvisation, she maintains this is akin to conversation: if you enjoy connecting with others and are ready to learn the basics of piano, you're already on the path to improvising.

• Sagar P.

  Sagar is a drummer and music producer with more than 12 years of live experience playing drums. Throughout his career, he has been part of various projects and bands, performing genres like rock, pop, metal, and jazz, while playing in big bands, musicals, circus shows, and band concerts.
  
  Sagar graduated from the Digital Music Production program at Langara College and has spent many years studying and developing his drumming skills. He has a strong background in teaching drums in both private and group settings, working with students across a wide range of ages and skill levels.
  
  His lessons include music genre exploration, improvisation, technique, rhythmic theory, drum beats and fills, and more—all balanced with fun exercises and an engaging teaching style. Throughout his lessons, his main objective is to create enjoyable sessions that help students achieve their personal goals on the instrument in a supportive and fun environment.
   

• Tannaz K.

  With over 20 years of teaching experience in violin, vocal, solfège, music theory, and early childhood music, Tannaz is a classically trained violinist and a singer with a Bachelor of Music degree. She is highly trained in the Suzuki Method, which is based on the belief that musical ability is not an innate talent, but a skill that can be nurtured through a supportive environment and proper instruction—much like learning a language. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the idea that, “a beautiful tone comes from a beautiful heart.”

  Tannaz has collaborated with Iranian television and radio stations and served as a jury member for the music section of the Shiraz public schools’ art and cultural competitions. Her undergraduate thesis focused on music therapy, and she worked in the field for approximately two years.

  Now based on the North Shore, Tannaz continues her musical journey as a member of the Laudate Singers Society. She has performed with various orchestras and in numerous recitals, and she currently teaches at schools in Vancouver.
