Congratulations to the winners of the inaugural Student Video Contest! The entries were creative, informative and fun to watch.
We challenged kindergarten to Grade 12 students to create videos showcasing the many ways water is wasted and what specific actions people can take to reduce water use.

- First prize was awarded to West Vancouver Secondary School Grade 9 student Marko Jones for his video titled Ways we waste water
- First runner-up went to Jack Morin, a Grade 10 student at Mulgrave School
- Second runner-up was earned by Bella Hallam, a Grade 11 student at Collingwood School
- Earning the participation prize for submitted the most entries is Ridgeview Elementary School

Fun facts
- For most of the year, an average West Vancouver resident uses 325 litres of water per day. In the summer, that number doubles.
- A running toilet can waste 350 litres of water per day.
- A dripping tap can waste 25 litres of water per day.
- Watering a lawn for one hour uses as much water as five loads of laundry, 25 toilet flushes and five dishwasher loads combined!
- West Vancouver gets its water from three sources: Metro Vancouver, Eagle Lake and Montizambert Creek.
