Update: July 7, 2021
As part of the District’s 2021 Utilities Capital Program, the lift station located at the intersection of Gleneagles Drive and Gleneagles Close has been scheduled for replacement. The existing lift station is ageing and requires replacement to continue to provide adequate sanitary service to the area.
Construction is scheduled to start the week of July 12 and completion is anticipated in October 2021. Please be aware that there will be some noise from rock splitting work at the start of the project. This work will take place during regular construction hours and is expected to take approximately two weeks.
WHAT IS BEING DONE?
The District will replace the current lift station and make improvements, including new backup power and remote access for monitoring and control. This project will result in better service to the area and improve response to emergencies such as power outages.
WHO IS DOING THE WORK?
BEL Contracting will be doing the work. You can expect to see BEL crews and machinery on-site, along with several sub-contractors to assist. Construction signage and traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist with traffic flow.
WHAT ARE THE IMPACTS?
There will be access to Gleneagles Drive and to Blink Bonnie Road past Gleneagles Close maintained during the project. There will be short periods where access is restricted to allow certain construction activities, such as hoisting and truck turnaround. The contractor will notify residents of any extended road closures in advance if required.
Although the lift station will be shut down for periods during the work, there are no disruptions to sanitary service anticipated.
Per District Bylaws, major construction and operation of equipment will be restricted to the hours between 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday to Friday; however, there may be staging and clean-up outside these hours. No work on Sundays or statutory holidays is anticipated at this time. Should this be required, the contractor will provide advance notification.
