RapidBus (B-Line) construction in West Vancouver

Construction for the Marine Drive RapidBus (formerly known as the B-Line) has started on the North Shore. The West Vancouver segment of the route will be on Marine Drive between Taylor Way and Park Royal Shopping Centre.

As part of Phase One of the Mayors’ Council 10-Year Vision, the new service will address regional and local needs, and improve the speed, reliability and convenience of transit service across the North Shore.

Construction required for the RapidBus service on the North Shore includes moving medians, curb work, installing bus post foundations, road paving, moving existing traffic lights and poles and installing new ones and installing street shelters, benches and bike racks.

Traffic impacts

Construction has been underway since August 2019. During construction, contractors discovered several unexpected underground utilities that have caused a delay in the construction schedule.

Expect intermittent traffic delays on Marine Drive between Taylor Way and Park Royal. Roadside signage will be in place to advise of closures.

Next Steps

TransLink’s implementation of the RapidBus service to Park Royal is not expected to be completed until early 2020, after which Council has directed staff to examine options for extension into our town centre.
