The atmospheric river event that occurred on October 19 and 20, 2024, damaged a stormwater outfall channel that carries collected stormwater runoff to the ocean at the base of 24th Street. Repair work to the stormwater outfall began on December 9, 2024 and is anticipated to be complete by Saturday, January 18.
For public safety, the seawalk must be closed at the base of 24th Street during active construction. The contractor will reopen the seawalk whenever possible to minimize the disruption. Please be aware that final paving work is weather dependent and will be completed as soon as the weather allows.
During construction, pedestrians are advised to follow the posted detours at the base of 23rd Street and 25th Street.
