Traffic Updates

Projects by the District of West Vancouver and partner agencies with upcoming work are posted here.

When necessary, construction signage and traffic control personnel will be on-site to assist traffic flow and pedestrian safety. Please use extra caution while travelling through construction zones.

Major event road closures are also posted on this page.

Short term work impacting traffic

December 1
- Expect minor traffic delays, pedestrian impacts, and single-lane alternating traffic on Chartwell Drive between Chartwell Crescent and Whitby Road due to road construction.
- Work will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.
October 20–TBD
- Work will begin on Monday, November 4 to clear debris and assess damage from the recent storm to the culvert and road at the Cross Creek Road roundabout.
- Cross Creek Road will be closed to westbound traffic between Highland Drive and Chartwell Drive, and Chartwell Drive will be closed to northbound traffic between Cross Creek Road and Chartwell Crescent.
- Expect delays and follow detour signage, via Highland Drive and Tyrol Road.
- Work hours will be Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and, if needed, on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Updates will be provided here when available.
November 25–January 22
- Expect delays and temporary parking restrictions on Eastmont Drive due to watermain upgrades.
- Construction will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
December 2–6
- Expect minor traffic delays, pedestrian impacts, and single-lane alternating traffic on Stone Crescent and Stone Court due to road construction. A brief road closure may be required when necessary.
- Work will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Long-term work impacting traffic

June 2024 to January 2025
- Expect traffic impacts on Marine Drive, between Horseshoe Bay Drive and Gleneagles Ch'axáý Elementary School, starting Monday, June 17, for approximately six months, owing to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure’s (MoTI) Horseshoe Bay Underpass Seismic Safety Retrofit Project. Traffic accessing the underpass from westbound HWY 1 Exit 2A/Eagleridge and southbound from Horseshoe Bay Drive will be maintained; however, traffic accessing the underpass to eastbound HWY 1 and northbound Horseshoe Bay Drive will be rerouted via a signed detour route through Horseshoe Bay Village.
- Hours of construction will be Monday to Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., or as required to complete the project. The project is anticipated to be completed in January 2025.

October 2023 until October 2024
- Expect intermittent no parking and potential minor traffic delays on 22nd Street, between Gordon Avenue and Haywood Avenue starting in mid-October 2023 for approximately twelve months, for construction related to the Kiwanis Development. Work will take place Monday to Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., and on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., if required.
July 2023 to May 2025
- Expect a full road closure on the 5300 block of Kensington Crescent, between Kensington Crescent and the intersection of Marine Drive and Greentree Road starting Thursday, July 20 for approximately one year. Local access will be maintained via the south entrance of Kensington Crescent.
- There will be occasional, single-lane alternating traffic on Marine Drive, between Kew Cliff Road and Greentree Road as required.
- Hours of construction will be Monday to Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. or as required to complete the project.

July 8–December 6
- Expect full road closure along Duchess Avenue between 12th Street and 15th Street for watermain upgrades. The local traffic access will remain; however, there may be times when vehicle access and parking will be restricted.
- Construction will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday.
