Dogs are now permitted in more park areas in West Vancouver, including on the paved footpaths and paved areas in Horseshoe Bay Park, Ambleside Park, and along the Centennial Seawalk, between 18th Street and 25th Street.
At the November 27, 2023 Council meeting, Council voted to amend the Animal Control Bylaw, to allow dogs on-leash in these additional areas. This amendment also removes the 5-metre setback from specific areas such as sports fields, playgrounds, and other public areas. Additional dog waste bag dispensers and dog waste bins will be added to the new locations.
New signage including maps of dog-permitted paths and parks will be installed in all impacted areas in the upcoming weeks.
