Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the North Shore from Saturday, January 27 to Monday, January 29. Expect heavy rainfall and potential flooding during this time.
During periods of heavy rainfall:
- Please take a few minutes to clear leaves from catch basins near your property so that rain water can drain from streets.
- Slow down and drive carefully. Heavy downpours can cause water pooling on roads.
- Stay clear of rivers due to quickly flowing water and potentially unstable riverbanks.
- Have an emergency plan and kit to help you and your family be prepared for a power outage.

Power outages and trees on power lines
If you lose power, check the BC Hydro website for a list of reported power outages. To report an outage, contact BC Hydro at 1-888-769-3766. If you see a downed power line, stay back at least 10 metres (about the length of a bus) and call 9-1-1.
