Mayor and Council proudly announce the purchase of the building formerly home to the Boathouse restaurant in Horseshoe Bay, located on the waterfront at Sewell’s Landing. The goal is to convert the space into a new home for the West Vancouver Art Museum.

The renovations will allow the Art Museum to maintain its current programming standards while also providing additional opportunities for arts programming and activities. The move will more than double the Art Museum’s current exhibition and programming space, from approximately 3,800 square feet at Gertrude Lawson House, to approximately 8,800 square feet.

To fund the renovations, Mayor and Council, with the assistance of staff, will consider a plan to privately fund the renovations for the building’s interior and determine future uses and programming for Gertrude Lawson House.

This community project is not intended to address the long-term desire for a privately funded purpose-built arts and culture facility as identified in the Arts & Culture Facilities Plan in 2019. The District remains committed to supporting efforts to address this future need.
