Redesigned West Vancouver website wins design award!

We are delighted to announce that our recently redesigned website has received the Gold Award in the Government category at the Hermes Creative Awards!

The Hermes Creative Awards is one of the oldest and largest international competitions honouring outstanding creative work in the fields of marketing, communications, and design. It recognizes the achievements of creative professionals involved in various aspects of traditional and digital media.

It’s now easier than ever to access a variety of services and useful information through our website such as renewing your dog or business licence, find traffic updates, and registering for recreational programs.

The District of West Vancouver, in collaboration with website creation company Upanup, designed our new user-friendly website, with our community members in mind. Our aim is to provide a seamless and convenient experience for all your public service and community recreation needs.

The District of West Vancouver is the first BC municipality to receive this recognition in the Government category and is notably one of the five BC government organizations that have been recognized by the Hermes Creative Awards in the past five years.

“The District of West Vancouver’s new website was designed with the end-user in mind, providing a more centralized, intuitive, and user-friendly experience” states acting Recreation Services Supervisor Sabina Kasprzak, “The website’s enhanced user interface has significantly improved the web browsing and editing experience for both internal and external users.”

The District's revamped website prominently features popular links on its homepage, providing quick and easy access to common services. Furthermore, intuitive and user-focused navigation facilitates both visitors and staff to effortlessly find the information they seek. The website has been developed in adherence to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA standards, ensuring inclusivity for all users.

Peter Knapp, CEO of Upanup, also expressed their delight in celebrating this award, stating, "We are thrilled to be part of the District of West Vancouver's success. This recognition demonstrates the dedication and collaboration between our team and the District. Together, we have created an accessible and user-friendly government website that will help everyday citizens."
