Lighthouse Park Trails

A group of children run down a trail through a forest.

Explore the large network of trails in this suburban escape winding through the remnants of an old-growth forest and down to the historic lighthouse on the water. There is also one short, accessible trail, Birdsong Path, which begins at the entrance to the parking lot and follows a gentle route through wetland and forest to an open area.

  • Difficulty Level: Moderate
  • Distance, elevation gain and estimated completion time:
Variable depending on the trail. Refer to the trail map for detailed route information. Please plan for a 25-minute hike uphill from the lighthouse back to the parking lot.

Remember, this is a wilderness park with cliffs, steep terrain and dense forest. Plan accordingly for the weather and conditions. Be safe and have fun!

Dogs in Lighthouse Park

Well-behaved dogs that stay on the trails are allowed off-leash on the trails in Lighthouse Park, except Birdsong Path.

Dogs on a leash (no greater than two metres in length) and under control are permitted on Birdsong Path. A maximum of two dogs per person are allowed on this path.

Check out Dogs in Parks for information on off-leash areas, licensing and more.

Parking at Lighthouse Park

Public parking at the park is limited and fills up quickly in good weather. Please have an alternate plan.

Lighthouse Park is accessed from a parking lot just off Beacon Lane. When travelling along Marine Drive towards Horseshoe Bay, turn left on Beacon Lane and follow the signs for Lighthouse Park.

Note: No buses are permitted down Water Lane or into the Lighthouse Park parking lot.

Pay parking is in effect year-round for Lighthouse Park. Vehicles with Veteran or Memorial Cross license plates and vehicles with a valid accessible parking placard are exempt. Residents of the District of West Vancouver may apply for an annual parking pass at no cost to the resident.
