About the project
West Vancouver Place for Sport and the Harry Jerome Oval, the new track and field facility located at West Vancouver Secondary School, officially opened on Tuesday, December 10.
This new sports facility includes a six-lane track, an artificial turf field with lighting and dedicated areas for long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, and shotput. The rubber surface layer on the track will be completed in spring 2025, when weather permits. In the interim, the asphalt base layer track may be used.
As part of the project, surrounding pathways to the facility have been upgraded, and washrooms (opening January 2025) at West Vancouver Secondary School have been renovated and will be open to the public outside of school hours to accommodate the facility.
West Vancouver Place for Sport is a partnership between the District of West Vancouver (the District) and West Vancouver Schools (WVS). It has been made possible with funds from the Growing Communities Fund, generously provided by the BC Ministry of Municipal Affairs, the District of West Vancouver, West Vancouver Schools, fundraising, and private donations.
