Gleneagles Golf Course Apple Harvest Benefits Local Food Programs

The District of West Vancouver is pleased to do our part to help reduce food waste through partnering with the North Shore Fruit Tree Project. This week, volunteers from the North Shore Fruit Tree Project harvested apples from the Gleneagles Golf Course to donate to local non-profit organizations, for distribution to residents in need.

The small apple orchard located at the sixth hole on the Gleneagles Golf Course was part of an orchard that was originally planted around 1900. The University of British Columbia worked extensively to plant and graft new trees to help preserve the rare varieties of apple trees that grow there.

North Shore residents with fruit trees who would like to donate some or all of their fruit harvest may contact the North Shore Fruit Tree Project to make arrangements.
