In celebration of BC Youth Week, join the Youth Services team for an action-packed gaming tournament series featuring a board game event (Settlers of Catan), as well as a video game event (Super Smash Bros Ultimate / Nintendo Switch)!
This event is open to youth (11-18 years) of all gaming abilities. There will be plenty of great prizes, pizza, snacks, and more! Staff will also be onsite to provide learning support throughout the event. See tournament format details below. Questions? Email [email protected] for more information.

Gaming Tournament Format
Please note, The two events have been staggered by 90 minutes to allow attendees the opportunity to play in both events if they’re eliminated early the first event.
Settlers of Catan (Board game)
Start time: 12 p.m. (noon)
Format: Round-Robin Tournament
Round 1: Players will be randomly assigned games (3-4 players per game) and play 1 game to determine the ranking for round 2. Players will be evenly mixed based on rankings.
Round 2: Players will be assigned games (3-4 players per game) based on their ranking from round 1 with the winners advancing.
Additional Rounds: Depending on the number of players who register, games will be played until 4 players remain. The final round of 4 players will be played to determine a winner. Results are determined by cumulative victory points. In the event of a tie for 2nd place, their will be a mystery game to determine this.
Super Smash Bros Ultimate (Nintendo Switch)
Start time: 1:30 p.m.
Format: Round-Robin Tournament
Round 1: Players will be randomly assigned into groups of 3-4 players. Players will then play 1 Smash match against each player in their group (1 vs 1) to determine their ranking/bracket position in the tournament.
Tournament: Players will be assigned bracket ranking based on their ranking from round 1. Top ranked players are assigned to play against bottom ranked players with the winners advancing. The tournament then playouts until there’s a declared winner. 3rd place will be based on the semi-final round; the greater damage/hit points dealt to their opponents wins.
