Building Permits - Commercial and Institutional

The Provincial Housing Supply Act now requires the District of West Vancouver to collect and report housing information when new residential dwellings are proposed. As a result, Housing Form is now required for new multi-family and mixed-use applications. On December 15, 2025, Council adopted amendments to the Tree Bylaw in support of the District’s Urban Forest Management Plan. The amendments include a lower tree protection size of 20 cm DBH for properties undergoing development with a new single-family or multi-family dwelling or commercial building. The lower tree protection size applies as of December 15, 2025 to any new development permit or building permit application submitted on or after Dec 15th and for any property that has a building permit application submitted, under review, approved or issued, or is actively under construction for a new single-family, or multi-family dwelling or commercial building, including demolition.
